Class Description
Discover the joy of sewing in this beginner-friendly class designed for you to learn to use a mechanical sewing machine. If you’re new to sewing or just getting comfortable with your machine, this hands-on class will give you the foundation you need to start creating with confidence. Learn how to safely operate your machine, understand its key parts, and practice essential skills, as well as get hands-on experience as you create a small project to take home. Build confidence, troubleshoot common issues, and get started sewing.
What You’ll Learn:
• How to set up and safely operate your sewing machine
• Winding and inserting a bobbin
• Threading the machine correctly
• Adjusting tension for different fabrics
• Choosing and using basic stitches
• Troubleshooting common issues and avoiding beginner mistakes
• Guided practice time plus a small take-away project
• A helpful handout is included for future reference
What to Bring to Class:
• Your sewing machine, power cord, and presser foot
• Bobbins and needles compatible with your machine
• Your sewing machine manual (paper or digital)
• Scissors, thread, straight pins or clips
• Seam ripper and ruler

Jeanette Weider is passionate about teaching, learning, and all things sewing. With more than 20 years of experience, she has honed her skills in quilting, bag making, and a variety of sewing techniques. Jeanette is a patient and enthusiastic instructor who loves helping others discover their own creative potential. She takes pride in working with each student to find the learning style that suits them best – making sewing both approachable and fun for everyone.
