Do you want to customize your style? Bag Making Skills class will get you started with reading bag patterns, sewing bag components, and frequently used skills for zippers. Build confidence, troubleshoot common issues, and start your bag sewing journey with solid foundational skills.
Participants should be comfortable using their sewing machine and have basic sewing skills.
What You’ll Learn
• How to set up and operate your sewing machine safely
• Winding and inserting a bobbin
• Threading the machine correctly
• Adjusting tension for different fabrics
• Choosing and using basic stitches
• Troubleshooting common issues and avoiding beginner mistakes
• Guided practice time
What to Bring to Class:
• Your sewing machine, power cord, and presser foot
• Bobbins and needles compatible with your machine
• Your sewing machine manual (paper or digital)
• Scissors, thread, straight pins or clips
• Seam ripper and ruler
Materials for class:
• Fabric – three ½ yards in coordinating prints/colors
• Soft and Stable – ½ yard
• Fusible interfacing – ¼ yard
• Lightweight Mesh fabric – 8½” x 17″
• Vinyl
– 9” x 17”
• Handbag zipper – 2 yards and 3 zipper pulls
• Thread to match fabric

Jeanette is a patient and enthusiastic instructor who loves helping others discover their own creative potential.
